Paris winter engagement photo shoot

BY PAMELA

Don’t be afraid to freeze if you are planning a Paris winter engagement photo shoot. As your local Paris photographers we know how to capture the spark in your photos, even if the weather is cool. Read here how Pamela, Paris photographer for hire from The Parisian Photographers, planned a romantic Paris winter engagement photo shoot with her couple:

How to plan an engagement photo shoot in winter

Taylor contacted me to book a Paris winter engagement photo shoot with his fiancée, Catherine. They had planned to go on a romantic trip to the city of love together to celebrate their recent engagement. They choose Paris as a place to have their engagement photos taken. Their winter engagement photo shoot in Paris was at the same time a great way to create a memorable keepsake of their romantic trip to the city of love.

And we chose a special date for their Paris winter engagement photo session: December 31st, New Year’s Eve. The prefect date to start a new chapter in their lives as newly engaged couple.

When we planned their Paris winter engagement photo shoot Taylor’s first concern was the weather: December, January and February are indeed the coldest months of the year in Paris. And of course nobody wants to freeze too much when taking romantic engagement pictures in Paris. Therefore as their experienced Paris photographer I recommended the following to the couple: A rather short photoshoot of 2 hours including 2 Paris photoshoot locations. Plus we would include a stop at a romantic Parisian Café to warm up and take some cute engagement pictures sipping hot chocolate and eating French croissants.

Locations for their Pairs winter engagement photo shoot

On the day of Catherine & Taylor’s Paris winter engagement photo shoot we meet at the iconic Bir Hakeim bridge with Eiffel Tower view at 9 am – just a bit after sunrise which is pretty late in winter. The weather was nice. We had blue sky, just a few clouds and a sunrise in pink – a beautiful background for romantic engagement pictures. Sunrises are especially beautiful and light is particularly soft in winter. That’s why I love winter season for photo sessions in Paris – even if it can be pretty cold.

In the beginning of Catherine & Taylor’s Paris winter couple photoshoot at the Eiffel Tower I guided them through different poses and actions. The rest was just love and magic! The couple had no problem moving in front of the camera. Catherine & Taylor were not professional models but it almost felt as if they were. Everything came naturally and easily to them.

Paris engagement photos with balloons

The second half of our Paris winter engagement photo shoot took place at Palais Royal (Royal Palace). As professional photographer in Paris I really like Palais Royal as photoshoot location because of the blend of classic Parisian and modern French architecture. In the courtyard of Palais Royal there is an art installation called the Buren’s Columns. It consists of black and white columns in different heights. It is the perfect place for a more playful photo session.

We had just started to take couple pictures in Palais Royal when we wit another photographer who just had finished her photoshoot. She asked us if Catherine & Taylor wanted to use red balloons for their engagement photoshoot in Paris that she did not need anymore. The couple loved the idea and was thankful to take the red balloons for a few fun couple photos – especially since the red balloons went perfectly with Catherine’s dress in back and red! After a few Paris engagement photos with balloons the couple offered the balloons to some children playing in the gardens of Palais Royal.

After an hour and a half of shooting outdoors, we finished their Paris winter engagement photo shoot in a romantic and cute Parisian Café nearby, called Le Nemours. The Café terrace was empty, which was perfect to get some nice pictures with nobody else around. And of course Catherine & Taylor could finally warm up with a hot coffee and a croissant.
