Marcus – Paris Photographer
Meet MARCUS, your Paris Photographer
Languages: English, French and German
Hi, I’m Marcus — born German, trained in the United States, and slowly becoming French.
My background is rooted in street and portrait photography. I aim to create images that feel dreamy yet real, with a strong focus on natural light, thoughtful composition, and subtle, elegant editing. My style is authentic and timeless, capturing moments as they naturally unfold rather than forcing poses.
Before dedicating myself fully to photography, I worked in academia, teaching literature and history at universities in Minneapolis and Baltimore. Storytelling has always been central to my work — whether through words or images — and this narrative approach deeply influences how I photograph people and places.
Since 2016, I’ve been exploring Paris with a camera in hand, learning the city intimately and knowing where to find the right light, the right angle, and the right atmosphere to create meaningful photographs. Paris is not just a backdrop for me; it’s a character in every story I photograph.
When I’m not shooting, I’m often developing my images — both film and digital — carefully refining skin tones and giving each photograph of the City of Light its final, distinctive touch. This hands-on approach allows me to maintain full creative control from capture to final image.
Outside of photography, I still read and write extensively, preferably in a café or brasserie in Montmartre. I also share my days with a demanding and indecisive cat who insists on the studio door being opened to the garden roughly twenty times a day — a surprisingly effective daily workout. If I have a true hobby, it’s exploring cities and landscapes by bike or on foot, always with a camera close by.
If you’re looking for a professional photographer in Paris with a storytelling approach and a natural, refined aesthetic, I’d be happy to photograph your time in the city.
